25 Days of Christmas

My sister and I each bought an advent calendar a few years ago with a different door for each day counting down to Christmas. We put a different activity on a slip of paper behind each door. Every morning, the kids get to open the door and see what we will do that day! I am posting the ideas we had (the really clever ones are hers--like the dice and the Christmas phrases and the drawing names. She is so creative!). We are also singing a Christmas song and reading a Christmas story every night. Hope this gives others some ideas, too. (Becka, I hope you don't mind me sharing.)

            Free yogurt at Kiwi Loco until 5 p.m.!

 2 Dec (F)

            Singles Fireside (7 p.m.)

            Christmas on the falls (3 p.m.)

                        What’s your favorite Christmas treat?

                        What’s the best gift you’ve ever given?

                        What would make the best Christmas gift ever?

            1^st Presidency devotional 6 p.m. (popcorn & peppermint ice cream)

5 Dec (M)

            Go swimming (Blackfoot)

            Build a fire at Shelley park. Make smores.

 6 Dec (Tu)

            Put together a package for Grandma & Grandpa

            Make a snow globe? (Family Fun website)

7 Dec (W)

            Make fudge and caramels or chocolates

8 Dec (Th)

            Roll dice. If it’s odd, wear something green. If it’s even, wear something red.

9 Dec (F)

            Make and deliver neighbor gifts

            The phrase of the day is, “Bah Humbug.” Instead of saying, “Darn,” or “Shoot,” you have to say, “Bah Humbug.” Report to the family what everyone’s reactions are when you say it!

10 Dec (Sat)

            Ward Christmas breakfast (9 a.m.)

            Make Christmas cake pops

            Draw names. You have to do something nice today for the person’s whose name you’ve drawn.

 11 Dec (Sun)

            Look at Christmas lights & drink cocoa

 12 Dec (Mon)

            Temple visitor’s center

 13 Dec (Tu)

            Go to store to buy gifts for each other. Come home & wrap.

 14 Dec (W)

            Free swimming at Lava

            The phrase of the day is, “Merry and bright.” Throw in this phrase instead of saying, “Great,” or “Fantastic.” Instead, you have to say, “That’s merry and bright!” Report to the family what everyone’s reactions are.
