Prayers these days seem to focus on my children. I suppose
it will be that way for the rest of my life. One of the most difficult things
for me as a parent is knowing when to discipline them and when to pick my
battles. You can’t get mad at them for everything otherwise you would always be mad! This was kind-of how my
prayer went the other night:
Help me to know when to let them play and when to make them
go to bed.
Help me to know when to discipline and when to let it go.
Help me to know when to make them clean up the mess and when
to save it for later.
Help me to know when they are struggling silently.
Help me to have the discipline to put away my projects, to
turn off the computer, to leave the dishes in the sink—and really listen.
